In 1985 our editor Thomas Hollyday created Puddles to comment on our culture, our literature and our organizations and make sure animals and wildlife are remembered in this coming water crisis. Join him and others on the Puddles weblog with your comments and questions to make sure animals and wildlife are always protected with an adequate supply of clean drinking water.

Puddles weblog is named for Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, the home of the greatest animal champion in literature, Doctor John Dolittle, MD. Join us now!

Teddy Goldsmith passed away this summer. He was one of the outstanding influences in the environmental and human movements of our lifetime. He will be missed. The Groundwater Guardian Green Site program of the Groundwater Foundation guardian @groundwater.org is eye opening. Read the application to be considered for a site designation and you’ll see what has to be done to make your backyard safe, especially its fresh water sources, for animal neighbors. From UBESCO we have learned that a new center on freshwater resources has been opened in Alexandria, Virginia. World Wildlife Fund and UNESCO have studies on water and wildlife. Solar Sipper water publishing news edited by Virginia: Humor is often a way to affect positive change. That is the purpose of our new cartoon series The Animal Viewpoint being sent to media to promote animal welfare and of course preservation of fresh drinking water for pets and wildlife. These drawings portray animal based humor in special situations and seasons. Also, don’t forget our popular publication “Tips on Wild Bird Watering with Waterers or Birdbaths,” which has a bibliography.
