Pets & wildlife on Family Dog article
Family Dog magazine in its September/October 2005 issue has an informative article by Eve Adamson about the art and technique of getting rid of mats in the fur of pets. First you use a coat conditioning spray to make the mat easier to untangle. Then you work the mat into smaller sections using a comb. It’s easier, she writes, to get at the mat if it is in sections. Third, you split the sections of mat into even smaller pieces. Fourth, you pick out the small bits. Finally you wash your pet. To keep down mats, brush as often as you can. She also lists the best equipment to buy for your mat work. Good article. Get a copy.
