Puddles Weblog edited by Thomas Hollyday

Our Mission: As world water resources decline and habitat is destroyed plans are being made by governments to save enough drinking water for humans. What about animals and wildlife?

In 1985 our editor Thomas Hollyday created Puddles to comment on our culture, our literature and our organizations and make sure animals and wildlife are remembered in this coming water crisis. Join him and others on the Puddles weblog with your comments and questions to make sure animals and wildlife are always protected with an adequate supply of clean drinking water.

Puddles weblog is named for Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, the home of the greatest animal champion in literature, Doctor John Dolittle, MD. Join us now!

animals and water

Solar Sipper Sense April 2010. Since 1985, originally Puddles newsletter, blog copy at puddlesweblog.com. Dedicated to clean drinking water resources for animals. Comment to Tom Hollyday, editor, at tomah@solarsippers.com. Published by Happy Bird Corporation, solarsippers.com.

Editorial: The issue of water for wildlife is to preserve its share of available drinking water. Only 2.5 percent of all the world’s water is fresh and of that most is frozen or underground, leaving about .3 percent readily available. As we research the available plans for that water, much of which is polluted, we find more and more that humans and their livestock and agriculture claim most of it. In the 2010 Water, Wetland and Forest Report of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, the authors, while coming up with good suggestions mostly for human usage, agree that the subject of water and its economic value has been argued since ancient times. In the Water issue of the National Geographic Society the main wildlife covered is fish, which is of course a foodstuff for humans and has an economic use. More later.

Product news by Virginia: 2010 is the 25th Anniversary of Happy Bird Corporation and its Solar Sipper water station product line. To celebrate this accomplishment we will aid government wildlife watering programs. To do this, we’ll notify government agencies such as schools, towns, states, and Federal departments that they can purchase on their credit cards at list price our Solar Sipper water stations from Happy Bird Solar Sipper stores at Ebay, Yahoo and Amazon. When we get confirmation by follow up letter that these purchases are from legitimate government agencies to help wildlife, we will rebate the buying agency 50 percent of the order’s list price. This ought to help animals.

Publishing news by Virginia: We’ve joined the social network revolution to appeal to our younger customers. See Paige Worthy’s article on this in the latest Lawn and Garden Retailer and look for her booth at the Hardware Show. See our fan pages at Facebook under “solar sipper” and under “hollyday mystery romances”. Our newest novel Gold will be published soon on eBook sites and available also on Amazon as a paperback.
