• No powerful household current - runs on standard D-cell flashlight batteries

• Works for about two or four hours (10050/10090 and 10070 respectively) depending on capacity of the batteries

• Keeps a quart of drinking water, as in the Solar Sipper or Pet Sipper, open to about 15 deg outdoor temperature and at higher air temperatures for larger containers

• Generates about as much heat as a 10-watt light bulb, right where it is needed

We designed the Solar Sipper Water Warmer in consideration of bird and pet needs in the colder weather. The Water Warmers provide just enough power output to keep water liquid in various containers. For birds a very small amount of water is sufficient for drinking (birds don't bathe in freezing temperatures), so the Water Warmer can operate in a Solar Sipper by removing the top, or in Pet Sipper though the wider hole. For dogs and cats, the Pet Sipper design is perfect for the Water Warmer to do it's job and keep water from freezing.   Water Warmers can also be used in larger containers, and depending on local wind and other weather conditions, and the volume of water in the container, the units will keep the entire surface ice free or a hole large enough to drink from for about 2 hours for the Model One or Model Three and 4 hours for the Model Two, down to about 15 degrees F. air temperature.

Performance Note - as the container water volume increases (larger containers) or the surface area is increased (wide bird baths), for 15 deg. air temp, more heat is dispersed into the contents of the container, and this may result in a smaller amount of ice free water at the surface. The smaller the container and the better protected from the wind, the more free water will be available.
